As Tameka Nichole "The Voice on The King" I speak into microphones every week.

But today… I’m speaking from my heart.

I read the message from Loretta’s Daughter LLC. about their second successful Health Equity Mammogram event, and I had to pause. Because this one is personal for me.

I just turned 40.

Forty is powerful. Forty is beautiful.
And forty is also the age when many of us schedule our first mammogram.

For me, this isn’t just a routine appointment.

My mother is a breast cancer survivor.
My aunt,  my mother’s sister... has also walked that journey.

So when I read:

“Sixteen women. Sixteen stories. Sixteen acts of courage.”

I didn’t just see numbers.

I saw my mother.
I saw my aunt.
And I saw myself.

What Loretta’s Daughter LLC., in partnership with Springfield Baptist Church, Northside Hospital, Screen Atlanta, Chi Tau Omega Chapter of AKA, and Decatur Alumni Chapter of Albany State University accomplished in the Conyers/Covington community was more than an event.

It is legacy in motion.

It is access made visible.

It is health equity — not just spoken, but delivered.

As a woman.
As a daughter.
As someone now standing at the doorway of her first mammogram.

I want to say thank you.

Thank you to the organizers who turned grief into purpose.
Thank you to the volunteers who showed up in service.
Thank you to the women who chose themselves.

Because choosing yourself is courage.

Early detection saved my mother’s life.

And if bringing a mobile mammogram unit into the community means one more family doesn’t have to endure late-stage discovery — then this work is sacred.

To every woman reading this:

If you are 40 or approaching 40 — schedule it.
If you have a family history — schedule it.
If you’ve been putting it off — schedule it.

We cannot pour into our families, our communities, our businesses, or our callings if we neglect ourselves.

Loretta’s Daughter LLC. reminded us that legacy isn’t just what we leave behind.

Atlanta, GA — Canna Body Designs presented HOLIDAZE, An Immersive Pop-Up Experience Powered by BlaqueBook Management Group and Canna Body Designs Founder and Chief Creative Officer Renee M. Palmer. Hosted at The Bookstore Gallery in the heart of Atlanta’s Historic Edgewood/Old Fourth Ward, the venue provided an intimate, culturally rich setting that aligned seamlessly with the purpose and tone of the experience.

Designed as an education-first, culture-centered experience, HOLIDAZE convened a dynamic mix of medical professionals, cannabis advocates, legislators, creatives, and lifestyle leaders—creating a true who’s who at the intersection of cannabis, wellness, policy, and culture. The caliber of panelists and speakers was a standout, delivering thoughtful, informed conversations that deeply resonated with attendees.

Renee M. Palmer, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Canna Body Designs, moderated the “The Doctor Is In” Brunch & Learn panel. This panel focused on the pillar of health  and wellness as well as providing natural supplemental information and medicinal alternatives. During the Brunch & Learn panel attendees experienced an infused culinary experience curated by Chef Mark Phillips (Owner of Southern Temptation) elevating the event’s sensory and cultural atmosphere.  

Networking ensued during the Happy “Daze” Hour. Sponsored by Zagga, A zero alcohol, Delta-8 infused brand by Goodie Mob’s own Big Gipp and attendees were offered elevated mocktails. Where panelists focused on guiding intentional discussions that brought focus to the additional pillars of Socioeconomic impact ,revenue opportunities, culture and community impact. Stonecrest Fest Inc. was created in 2017 to celebrate the newly established city of Stonecrest in DeKalb County, Georgia.

Stonecrest Fest Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to supporting the city administration’s and the city council’s goals of growing Stonecrest into a community where commerce and culture work together as a world class city. This will be accomplished through community outreach and by providing various platforms which encourage involvement of residents, businesses and other non-profit organizations throughout the city of Stonecrest and beyond.

Stonecrest Fest…IT’S MORE THAN A FESTIVAL…IT’S AN EXPERIENCE! 

• The Stonecrest Fest 1st year was held in District 4 and 5 of the City of Stonecrest at Flat Rock Archive and Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve in 2017.  It has been held every year since with the exception of 2020 & 2021 due to the Pandemic.

The Chefs Galore event, established eight years ago at St. Philip AME Church, was created to unite the men of the church through food, fellowship, and fun. The concept is simple but powerful—what better way to bring men together than by inviting them to cook and share their favorite dishes with the church and community?
